2006.09.09 Final qualifying standings: SANTA POD
Jaskas 4. run timing data 1.22/60 foot 3.04 4.44/180mph (289km/h)/1/8-mile 6.702/196mph (315km/h) Jaska Salakari stepped up to a best time so far on his new KTM Supertwin bike of 6.70. "We know we can do better still", Jaska said. "Our 60' was only 1.22 and it was only after the clutch came in at 2.85s that it started to happen. I lifted at 5.9s and our data said the bike was travelling at 219mph. If you project the run to a full pass it would have been a 6.3. Our biggest problem to date on the bike has been fuel pressure on the starting line and we are confident we have solved it. The reason I lifted is that the last time I ran this fast was six years ago and I am still getting a feel for the bike at speed. We are against Charley in the first round and it's an opportunity to reverse the result of the race - we had a flat tyre at the finish line and Charley's bike broke a primary belt and ran a winning 7.6.
26.08-2006 28.6. New fuel-pressure-adjustment system is installed. It gives unlimited possibilities to adjust pressure of each cylinder during the run to get best possible result in any circumstances. Together with new innovative injectors bike should be giving much more power with less problems. 14.6. After the shows in spring-time, team decided to make the changes in the bike, which had been in their minds for a long time to make sure, that the bike is going to be fast & reliable. Most problematic things in V2-engined supercharged Nitromethane-bikes are the primary-belts. They do not last for long and primary gearing has to be done very heavy to take the power. The best way to avoid belt-breaking and to save some weight (100 pounds/50Kg’s) is to remove the whole primary-gearing & belts. Clutch is installed in to the end of the crankshaft and the frontsprocket is installed in to the clutch. This has been done and to be honest – it looks better and it is going to be much better than the old-fashioned primary-belt-bikes. 26.4.2006 Salakazi Racing at Finntec 2006. The biggest event of machinery and metalworks in Finland had a very special guest star this year: KTM Nitro Duke is at the show 25th - 28th April at the stand of Pathtrace. There is a good reason for that: all the components of the engine are drawn with Edgecam with assistanse of Pathtrace. 20.4.2006 American Car Show of Helsinki was a huge success
for both the organiser and
4.4.2006 Salakazi Racing Team. There was 67.000 people during the weekend and Nitro Duke was the most photographied and watched bike at the show. Thousands of flyers were given away and both the riders Jaska and Risto were at the show Team Salakari will be having it's first public appear in the new looks at the American Car Show in the Bomber Hell-hall, placed in Helsinki Messukeskus during 14.-17.4.2006. Come and check out the bike there. 15.3.2006 New double-fuel-pump-construction has been tested and found out, it works better than anything done so far. It gives possiblity to tune cylinders separately and makes spraying very fine. More about it will be released in the products-section. 3.3.2006 Team Salakari Racing made a deal with KTM Nordic. Because of this major sponsorship, looks of the bikes is going to be renewed totally to be looking like KTM Super Dukes. KTM is wellknown to be number one bike off-road and they have showed up their capability to make bikes to be fastest on the tracks. Now it is the time to be fastest on the drag strips 12.2.2006 Jaska realized that having two bikes, both potential winners is a waste of a bike. He sold the other one of the bikes to Risto Toikkanen and now there are two bikes in the same team. Hopefully they will not meet on the strip before there are only two bikes left. This opens also possibility to ride in two different classes: Super Twin Top Fuel and Top Fuel Bikes and get two first prizes from one event... |
